Opening Doors to Financial Services Careers

Confidence. Connections. Dreams. Those are the things participants in Nationwide’s Financial Services Professional Apprenticeship program with Columbus City Schools and Columbus State Community College say they’ve gained from working at Nationwide.

The apprenticeship program identifies promising young adults while they’re in high school and provides an opportunity for them to earn an Associate’s degree at Columbus State as part of this community-based initiative.  

“Getting into this program has been a very big confidence boost for me,” says current program participant Keisha Bass in the short video. “It made others see potential in me that I didn't really see in myself.”

The program launched in 2020 to encourage students who may not have considered a career in financial services. It now has three current and former groups of participants and has seen three graduates hired to full-time positions at Nationwide. The company plans to continue creating opportunities for local talent through this program, further strengthening its longstanding commitment to the central Ohio community and to its values of diversity, equity and inclusion.
