NWSL players score professional goals with “Experience Nationwide”

NWSL experience nationwideFor the third year in a row, a group of National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) players traded work on the soccer field for work in the fields of insurance and financial services thanks to a unique program known as “Experience Nationwide.” Designed exclusively for NWSL players, the offering is an immersive professional development program hosted by Nationwide at the Fortune 100 company’s headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.

This year’s cohort included Jordyn Bloomer, Ryanne Brown, Hanna Glas, Mya Jones, Abby Smith and Michele Vasconcelos.

“During their two weeks at Nationwide, these players experienced our company culture, learned about our businesses and met with some of our community partners,” said Ramon Jones, Nationwide’s executive vice president and chief marketing officer. “Our hope is that each player walks away from this program with new skills and experiences that will serve them now and in the future.”

The group learned from leaders and associates representing a variety business units including Marketing, Technology, Corporate Citizenship, Nationwide Financial, Culture & Talent Acquisition, and other departments across the enterprise. The players also took part in specialized training sessions, volunteered in the community, visited with a few of Nationwide’s local sports team partners, and collaborated on a capstone presentation to senior leadership.

Nationwide became the exclusive insurance partner of the NWSL in spring of 2021 and announced a multiyear extension of the relationship in November 2023. The centerpiece of the partnership is presenting sponsorship of the Lauren Holiday Impact Award, an honor that recognizes an NWSL player for outstanding service and character off the pitch.
