Nationwide’s Charity Challenge kicks off today
Contest promotes and supports nominees for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award presented by Nationwide
Columbus, OH – As presenting sponsor of the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, Nationwide is encouraging fans to take part in the Charity Challenge as a show of support for their favorite nominees and community causes.
Now through January 6, 2025, fans may vote on X/Twitter by posting #WPMOYChallenge along with their favorite nominee’s name or X handle, or by voting directly on NFL.com/ManOfTheYear. Additionally, all online votes and eligible social posts will count twice during the “double vote” window on January 2 and 3.
The player with the most collective hashtag mentions and online votes will win $35,000 for his designated charity while second and third place finishers will receive $10,000 and $5,000 donations, respectively, all courtesy of Nationwide.
“Nationwide created the Charity Challenge to rally fans around their favorite Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year nominees and give players a chance to earn additional donations for their chosen charities,” said Ramon Jones, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Nationwide. “Last year, fans participated in record numbers with 7.4 million votes tallied. We can’t wait to see how fans show up in support of the 2024 nominees.”
The winners will be announced on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025. Hashtag information, official rules and the Charity Challenge scoreboard can be found at NFL.com/manoftheyear.
Cincinnati Bengals center Ted Karras won last year’s Charity Challenge. Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson finished second and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes finished third.
The 2024 NFL season marks the 11th year of Nationwide’s sponsorship of the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award. Since 2014, Nationwide and the Nationwide Foundation have contributed more than $3.3 million to the charitable foundations represented by the various nominees.
The winner of the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award presented by Nationwide will be announced during the NFL Honors, a primetime awards special to air nationally on FOX and the NFL Network on Thursday, February 6.
