Nationwide to Offer International Small Cap Fund

Columbus, OH - Nationwide will add a new option to its menu of funds. The Nationwide International Small Cap Fund offers investors the opportunity to diversify their international equity exposure with the objective of providing long-term capital growth.

“While many investors maintain international allocations within their portfolios, they are often heavily weighted toward larger, more well-known companies, which may limit a portfolio’s growth potential,” said Mike Spangler, president of Nationwide Funds. “The Nationwide International Small Cap Fund enables investors to further diversify their investment portfolio and expand their potential for capital appreciation.”

The Nationwide International Small Cap Fund (Class A: NWXSX; Institutional Class: NWXUX; Institutional Service Class: NWXVX) will invest at least 80 percent of its net assets in equity securities of international companies with smaller market capitalizations at the time of purchase. The fund will invest in a portfolio that is diversified across countries, industries, issuers and styles.

Subadvised by Wellington Management Company, the Fund will employ a unique management structure consisting of multiple sub-portfolios, each one being managed within individual sectors of expertise by one of Wellington’s 24 Global Industry Analysts. Mark Mandel, CFA, and Cheryl Duckworth, CFA, are responsible for risk oversight and ensuring sector neutrality.

With nearly $1 trillion in client assets under management, Wellington Management Company has secured its position as one of the largest independent investment companies in the world. Serving as an investment manager for clients in more than 50 countries, Wellington has a vast international securities presence.

“We selected Wellington based on their consistent track record of providing above benchmark returns regardless of market conditions, said Spangler. “This appointment serves as another example of our commitment to make institutional-caliber asset managers available to our individual investors.”

As a strategic partner to advisors, Nationwide provides a full family of subadvised mutual funds designed to help meet the unique investment goals and risk tolerances of investors. Nationwide currently manages 115 funds with approximately $62 billion in assets, excluding fund of funds.
