Nationwide safety program contributes to successful emergency rescue in Kansas

Goodland Fire Department utilizes grain rescue tube and training to free entrapped agriculture worker

On July 28, 2021, the Goodland Fire Department in Northwest Kansas responded to a call for help rescuing an agricultural worker who’d been engulfed up to his chest in a grain bin for more than an hour.

Utilizing the department’s grain rescue tube and training for such scenarios, volunteer first responders jumped into action as they arrived on scene.

Goodland Fire Department Lieutenant Matthew Breininger spoke with Nationwide to recount the event.
