Nationwide Foundation Announces $500,000 Donation for Texas Relief and Recovery

The Nationwide Foundation announced a $500,000 contribution to aid victims of recent winter storms in Texas that caused widespread power outages and property damage.

The contribution will benefit three organizations:

  • American Red Cross: $300,000 toward emergency response for those impacted by the storm in Texas
  • San Antonio Food Bank: $100,000 for immediate hunger-relief efforts
  • United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County: $100,000 for community recovery and rebuilding

"Our hearts go out to all who have been impacted by the winter storms,” said Nationwide CEO and Nationwide Foundation Chairman Kirt Walker. “While our claims team is caring for our members in Texas, we’re proud the Nationwide Foundation can provide the community with additional support.”

The American Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program will help address storm victims’ immediate needs by providing food, shelter, emotional support, clean-up kits and other forms of assistance that will help them rebuild their lives. People interested in donating to the Red Cross may donate online at www.redcross.org, or call 1-800 RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

The Feeding America network of food banks provides emergency food assistance to more than 40 million people annually. Feeding America accepts donations at feedingamerica.org.

United Way connects people, organizations, expertise and resources to improve people’s lives and create lasting change in our communities. It is focused on creating community-based and community-led solutions that strengthen the cornerstones for a good quality of life: education, financial stability and health.
