Nationwide Expands Ting Program: More Homes to Receive Free Cutting-Edge Fire Prevention Technology & Service

The company is excited to announce that it is deepening that commitment with the expansion of its innovative Ting fire prevention program. Additional new and current policyholders are eligible to receive a free Ting sensor, along with five years of complimentary fire prevention service. 

Ting, developed by Whisker Labs, is a state-of-the-art sensor and service that monitors a home's electrical system to help detect fire hazards before they become dangerous. By mitigating these hazards in the earliest stages, Ting offers homeowners peace of mind and an additional layer of protection for their families and properties.  

This latest expansion of the Ting program comes as more homeowners are embracing smart home technology to enhance safety. According to a recent Nationwide survey, 61% of homeowners with smart devices cite safety and security as key benefits, highlighting the growing need for proactive solutions like Ting.

Nationwide’s Ting program has already proven impactful for 50,000 families across the country and helped to prevent close to 800 potential home fires. One such example comes from a Nationwide member in Martinez, CA: 

Ting alerted me to a problem in [my] house. I got a phone call from the [Ting] Fire Safety Team and alerts on my phone. When I opened the cover [on my subpanel], one of the wires was melting! Got an electrician to change the subpanel and Ting helped me with $1,000 towards the cost of repair. This is just an awesome experience, everyone should get Ting. 

Across its entire fleet of over 1 million sensors deployed to date, Ting is proven to prevent ~4 out of 5 electrical firesⁱ, delivering measurable results that help keep homeowners safe. Nationwide’s Ting offer is currently available to members in 44 states. Interested members can check eligibility and enroll online. Those eligible will receive a free sensor, the Ting app, 5 years of free fire prevention service, and a $1,000 credit for repair of Ting-identified hazards.
