Nationwide® and AccuRisk offer new health option for small, mid-sized businesses

The plan offers employers flexible design, improved data transparency and a proactive approach to self-insuring

Columbus, OH — At a time when employers are seeing the highest annual increase since 2010 for health plan costs, Nationwide® and AccuRisk Solutions have announced the launch of the Data Driven Decisions (D3) health plan, a new self-funded plan developed by AccuRisk and featuring medical stop loss coverage from Nationwide for small to mid-sized businesses (SMB) in Ohio focused on managing plan costs.

“We are expanding our existing partnership with AccuRisk to include stop loss coverage for the D3 plan as a means to better serve SMB employers looking to manage their healthcare spend and take an active role to improve the health and financial wellbeing of their employees,” said Syed Rizvi, Chief Specialty Insurance Officer at Nationwide.

AccuRisk’s D3 plan uses data to identify, quantify and mitigate factors that drive up the cost of health plans. Using integrated solutions such as Center of Excellence programs, comprehensive care management, transparent pharmacy data and competitive network pricing, the plan provides a proactive approach for SMBs looking to self-insure their employee health plan. D3 also helps employers stabilize short- and long-term health care premium costs and create a transparent and sustainable benefits program. This coupled with medical stop loss protection from Nationwide further supports SMBs’ ability to manage their claims costs more effectively.

“With the addition of D3, we fully intend to reduce employer costs and the high out-of-pocket costs their members experience,” AccuRisk CEO Dan Boisvert said. “The SMB market has been unfairly penalized due to limited access to claim data because of the existing market's unwillingness to provide this crucial information. We aim to change that and allow employers to make informed decisions by providing them with actionable intelligence to improve plan performance.”

The plan is currently offered exclusively to SMB businesses in Ohio, with planned expansion into additional markets. Information about the plan can be found at www.nationwide.com/dcubed.
