Mark Pizzi—President of Nationwide’s Direct and Member Solutions Channel—To Retire at Year’s End

Columbus, OH - After 40 years of outstanding leadership, Mark Pizzi, president of Nationwide’s Direct and Member Solutions channel, announced he will retire at the end of 2017. Pizzi has been with the company since 1978 and most recently has been responsible for the business unit delivering sales and service through direct channels, including Nationwide’s bank.

“It has been an incredible privilege, both personally and professionally, to work with Mark. His vast knowledge of the business has helped Nationwide grow and be successful while his engaging leadership style has enabled him to build a strong team in every job he has held,” said Nationwide Chief Executive Officer Steve Rasmussen.

Pizzi joined Nationwide as a personal lines underwriter in Harrisburg, Pa., and has progressed through many field, staff, operational and leadership assignments over the years. He served as regional vice president for Virginia, regional vice president for New York, senior vice president of regional operations, and president and chief operating officer of Nationwide Insurance. He’s been in his current role since 2014.

“We’re fortunate to have Mark with us through the end of the year to assist us through his transition to retirement,” added Rasmussen. “In every role, he has provided strong leadership and is known for caring deeply about associates, members, the community and family. Nationwide is stronger and better because of Mark’s commitment and leadership.”

Moving forward, most of the Direct and Member Solutions channel will report to Mark Berven, the president and chief operating officer of Nationwide’s property & casualty organization. Along with assisting on the business transition until his retirement, Pizzi will continue to oversee Nationwide bank, led by Andrew Walker, until the end of the year.
