Nationwide earns 2023 Best Company for Multicultural Women and Best Companies for Diversity recognition

Nationwide’s commitment to supporting the careers of women of all ethnicities has again earned the company recognition from Seramount as one of the 2023 Best Companies for Multicultural Women. The honor recognizes U.S. companies that create and use best practices in hiring, retaining and promoting multicultural women.

Since 2003, Seramount’s Best Companies for Multicultural Women has tracked corporations’ progress in creating cultures that encourage multicultural women to join and rise through the ranks and mentoring and sponsorship participation, among other factors influencing the progress of multicultural women.

Nationwide associates Noemi Garcia, associate vice president, catastrophe modeling and modernization, and Jayme Smoot, vice president, corporate sustainability and external affairs operations, both appreciate the value the company places on the success and development of all their employees, including multicultural women.

“Nationwide’s commitment to its associates, whether it be their well-being or career development and advancement, has been something that’s impressed me since I started here,” said Garcia, who’s been with the company over 13 years and serves as president of Nationwide’s National Latino Alliance employee resource group.

Smoot, who also leads an employee resource group as president of African-American Women Active and Ready to Exceed, knows our reputation matters. “The recognition from Seramount validates Nationwide’s commitment to and belief in a diverse workforce,” added Smoot. “New and tenured employees, along with customers and community stakeholders, look to us to be leaders in creating an inclusive culture with exceptional talent and this shows we are doing just that.”

"Nationwide's legacy of diversity, equity and inclusion has been reflected throughout our workforce and culture," says Giavonni Lucas, chief diversity and talent acquisition officer. "We purposefully invest in an inclusive culture that embraces our differences and allows all voices to be heard and respected."

In addition to earning the Best Companies for Multicultural Women designation from Seramount, Nationwide was also included on this year’s Black Enterprise’s Best Companies for Diversity list. The list highlights a select group of companies that have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to creating dynamic workforces, diverse corporate governance, expansive supply chains and inclusive management.

“Nationwide is a company that cares, and we’re proud of our commitment and appreciation for diversity, equity and inclusion that helped us earn this recognition from both Seramount and Black Enterprise,” said Nationwide Chief Human Resources Officer Vinita Clements
