President, Nationwide Funds
Mike Spangler is president of Nationwide Funds and leads the Nationwide Investment Management Group, based in Columbus, Ohio. Mike has management responsibility for all aspects of the Nationwide Investment Management Group and reports to the President and Chief Operating Officer of Nationwide Financial. He joined Nationwide and was elected to his current role in 2008.
Mike has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services and asset management industry. Prior to joining Nationwide, he was a managing director at Morgan Stanley, heading Americas Retail and Intermediary Product Management. Before joining Morgan Stanley, he was president of Touchstone Advisors, Inc. and vice president and director of business operations at Touchstone Investments. His past experience also includes positions at Wachovia Bank, N.A. and Evergreen Investments where he was vice president and director of corporate planning and business development, respectively.
He was a College Scholar and earned a bachelor’s degree with honors from Elizabethtown College. He serves as a Trustee of the College, chair of the Trusteeship Committee and chair of the Investments Sub-Committee. He obtained a master’s degree in business administration from Lehigh University. Mike serves as a Board Member of Wespath Institutional Investments LLC, a subsidiary of Wespath Benefits and Investments, one of the largest and oldest social principles and sustainable Institutional Investment Managers in the U.S. Past volunteer service includes as Board Member, American Red Cross, Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter, and a Board Member and Treasurer of Contact Helpline, Harrisburg, PA.
