Nationwide and Brella partner to offer supplemental health insurance

The new indemnity limited group benefit plan will cover more than 13,000 conditions, giving employees wide-ranging supplemental coverage in one plan

Columbus, OH – Nationwide and Brella have teamed up with AccuRisk Solutions to deliver a cost-effective supplemental health insurance plan that pays out upon diagnosis and offers benefits for covered conditions with no accident or hospitalization requirements. The new plan, called Nationwide Provide, is designed to help ease the burden of unexpected, out-of-pocket medical bills for employees and increase their peace of mind.

“Paying for unexpected medical costs driven by a number of factors, including high deductible health plans, is a huge challenge facing many Americans,” said Syed Rizvi, Chief Specialty Insurance Officer at Nationwide. “The past few years have provided many reminders that we need to be prepared for the unexpected, and unfortunately, we’re all susceptible to the risk of significant medical costs as a result of deductibles, copays and other out of pocket expenses. Employers battling for the best talent know they need to offer differentiated benefits to stand out from the competition. That’s why we’re excited to partner with Brella and AccuRisk Solutions to deliver another innovative solution for businesses and their employees.”

Nationwide Provide will pay cash benefits for more than 13,000 covered conditions, with no limitations or exclusions for pre-existing conditions and no medical underwriting. Claims are easy to submit online via mobile or desktop as soon as medical treatment is received, with benefits typically paid within 72 hours of a completed claim submission.

"We're extremely excited to team up with Nationwide and AccuRisk to help make health hardships less of a financial burden for people today. The partnership will help thousands of Americans receive benefits that can ease the financial stress that comes with health-related out-of-pocket costs," said Mike Zarrillo, Chief Revenue Officer at Brella.

The new indemnity limited group benefit plan from Nationwide and Brella comes at a time when less than 40 percent of Americans say they could pay an unexpected medical bill of $1,000. With rising inflation and unprecedented employee turnover, Nationwide Provide is positioned to help employers offer a benefit that helps ease the financial strain of out-of-pocket medical costs. While the plan does not require coordination of benefits with a major medical plan, it is not intended to, nor does it meet the requirements of a comprehensive major medical plan of insurance.

Nationwide Provide is available in several states for brokers to quote. Find more information about the new Nationwide Provide plan at www.nationwide.com/NationwideProvide
